Chronic Pain

Chronic/Neuroplastic pain is generated by the brain but it is not imaginary. All pain is real. Research shows that while chronic pain is real, various non-physical factors play a role in causing pain to persist.

Other terms for Chronic Pain are:  Neuroplastic Pain, Neuro Circuit Pain, Neural Pathway Pain, Mindbody Pain, TMS (Tension Myoneural Syndrome and previously Tension Myositis Syndrome).

Do you suffer from:

  • Chronic Back Pain?
  • Fibromyalgia?
  • Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS)?
  • Migraines?
  • Irritable bowel syndrome?
  • Chronic Neck Pain?
  • Headaches?
  • Sciatica?
  • Pain caused by disability trauma or accident?
  • Hip pain, knee pain, shoulder pain and other aches and pains throughout the joints or limbs?

All of the above are more than often Neuroplastic Pain which Helen can help you recover from. Please contact Helen, she will talk you through the steps to help you determine if your pain is Neuroplastic Pain.

Pain is not always about tissue damage. With chronic pain tissues may have healed or there may never have been any tissue damage. Your brain has incorrectly concluded that there is a threat or danger that you need protecting from.

Pain is complex, many chronic pain conditions stem from a hyper-sensitivity of the nervous system, sometimes known as Central Sensitisation.

Much of Helen’s work is empowering her clients to retrain their neural pathways so that they work for them rather than against them, to stop the over protection. As Dr J E Sarno says “the same brain that brings the pain on can make it go away”

In 2008 Helen specialised in Chronic Pain recovery, teaching her clients how to use the Mind Body connection to become pain free.

During your sessions you will learn to desensitise your nervous system, retraining your neural pathways so your body and brain respond normally to stimulus (movement, touch, noise, light, food etc.) so allowing you to return to comfort.

Helen’s approach to helping you recover from pain is first to educate you as to how pain and the mind and body work together. Then, depending on your individual circumstances, there are several techniques that Helen can use to help you recover from your pain including: neurolinguistic programming (NLP), somatic tracking, life coaching and hypnotherapy. Everyone is different, everyone’s pain/symptoms are different, so having a variety of techniques to offer clients enables Helen to reach out and help a wide variety of people.

Please ring Helen at any time to discuss if her pain treatment would be suitable for you.

Helen is SIRPA trained and has received specialist training in “Explain Pain” from the Neuro Orthopaedic Institute (NOI).
